Scanlon Leadership Network Membership Application Process

Please submit a letter of application for membership to the Scanlon Leadership Network Board of Directors.

Your application will be reviewed for interest in or practices of the Scanlon Principles/Processes. Current members will be asked if they have any objections to your organization becoming a member.

A member of the Leadership Network or the office support staff would like to visit your facility to learn more about you and the organization and to explain the benefits and responsibilities of membership.

The Chairman of the Board will grant membership.
- You will be invited to the next Board meeting for an opportunity to "tell your story" and to meet other members of the Network.
Scanlon Leadership Network Responsibilities / Opportunities of Members
- Demonstration of continued application of the Scanlon Principles/Processes and membership criteria.
- Participation on the Board of Directors.
- Participation of a company team at the Annual Membership Conference.
- Participation of a company team at the Annual Membership Meeting.
- Participation as a presenter at the Scanlon Plan Associates Conferences.
- Participation in special projects, e.g., research, training, executive seminars, as scheduled by the Scanlon Leadership Network.
- Participation in outreach activities.
- Demonstrated advocacy of the Scanlon Principles/Processes.
- Fulfillment of financial support obligations to the Scanlon Leadership Network.
- Each member organization will be asked to make a presentation on their status of commitment to the Scanlon Principles/Processes to the Board or at a Scanlon event, on a regular basis as scheduled by the Board.
Scanlon Leadership Network Guidelines for Members
- The Executive-level (CEO, General Manager) needs to demonstrate the leadership of and commitment to:
- Identification of the organization's mandate or " right job."
- Continuous education and increasing literacy of all employees.
- Articulated beliefs and actions that create opportunities and expectancies of responsibility, involvement and openness to influence throughout the organization.
- Personal, professional, and organizational accountability to "equity" for customers, investors/owners, and employees.
- Competence and excellence.
There needs to be evidence within the organization of:

A regular and comprehensive communication to employees of the organization's business reality and its relevance to them.

A system that is accessible and open to employees' ideas, challenges, influence, and involvement.A system that identifies and rewards accountability to customers, investors, and employees.

A process for continuous development of competency and skill.

Ongoing "renewal" and commitment to a process of personal, professional, and organizational development.

Participation at a Scanlon Exploring Conference or a visit to a Scanlon Member Company by significant decision-makers from the organization is highly recommended.
