A. Raymond
A. Raymond
3091 Research Drive
Rochester Hills, MI 48309

Born in 1865 of one man’s passion for resolving fastening problems in the glove and leather industry, the company, A. RAYMOND, counts amongst its achievements the patent of the snap press stud in 1886. This product rapidly developed on an international level. The ability to diversify and to visualize markets globally won its founder, Albert-Pierre RAYMOND, a gold medal at the World Fair in Paris in 1900. Four generations of RAYMOND descendants have followed one another at the head of what has become an international industrial group. A. RAYMOND still cultivates this passion for fasteners in many areas of activity, including automobiles. It is this sense of adapting to a need which even today guides industrial choices: from design to manufacture.

A. RAYMOND has multiplied its international presence through the use of independent industrial establishments in a drive to have direct contact with the world’s major business markets. The A. RAYMOND GROUP has locations in: France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Great Britain, Japan, United States, Czech Republic, Brazil, China and Korea. The Group has more than 2300 employees at eleven production sites, and nine research centers that register an average of 15 patents annually, resulting in 800 new products. Over recent years, the A Raymond Group has experienced strong growth as a result of the decision to remain a specialist within its original sector.. Highly active in all the main automotive production centers, the Group continues its fast-track growth by promoting technological alliances with other fastening specialists in order to provide major customers with a wide choice of products and global services. The Group believes that its continued success lies in the talents, energies, and dedication of their people. Employee involvement at all levels of the organization is one of their key basic operating philosophies.

The Rochester Hills, MI facility designs and manufactures plastic and metal fasteners and quick connectors for the automotive industry. They are QS9000 cetrified.

ITT Engineered Valves today has a sales volume of $20 million dollars and employs a little over 100 people. Employees at ITT believe that everyone needs to feel very comfortable with the companyÕs future, and they believe the best way to accomplish this is with substantial communication and the opportunity to provide input. This is done through their employee involvement program called PRIDE; through their tactical plan for process improvement called PRIDE II, and through their ÒPartnership for PerformanceÓ (their newly designed employee review system). All of these programs give an employee a share of the business through the ability to communicate and through financial rewards.

Rule Marine Division

ITT Rule Marine Division, located in Gloucester, Massachusetts, was acquired by ITT Industries in 1999. Employing approximately 240 people, Rule manufactures primarily bilge pumps and other marine products including float switches, compasses, winches, boat care products, anchors, and tachometers. Although Rule had previously installed a profit-sharing plan, they realized that they would benefit from more employee involvement. Therefore, a team of 10 employees developed their FUTURE (Friends United Together Undertaking Rewarding Endeavors) Plan, which was adopted in January of 2000. This plan supports RuleÕs management philosophy, which is based on a dedication to an empowered organization, the rewarding of positive behavior, and finding a common business approach with ITT Industries.
